a play on Sabbathday, specifically Sabbathday Lake, Maine where the “last” three* Shakers live. *now two
a term to describe a multiplicity of religious practices ranging from observance, to the sacred, to time outside of ordinary time.
an especially useful term since the term sabbath is always in the process of interpretation, paralleling both the living nature of religious activity and my approach to religious traditions as a whole.
